Description

A rich and creamy baked macaroni and cheese with a golden crust and a smooth custard-style interior, packed with comforting flavors.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together whole milk, heavy cream, eggs, salt, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  3. Cook elbow macaroni in salted water until just tender, then drain.
  4. Mix the cooked macaroni with butter and half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and pour the liquid mixture evenly over it.
  6. Top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for 35 minutes until golden on top and set in the center.
  8. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for best melting results
  • Do not overcook the pasta before baking
