- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper until just mixed.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring often, until deeply caramelized. Pour in beef broth and thyme, then let it simmer.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs and place them into the onion sauce. Cook gently until done, then transfer to an oven-safe dish and top with grated cheese.
- Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
