Description

Soft vanilla and chocolate cupcake layers combined with creamy frosting, fresh strawberries, sprinkles, and chocolate chips inside adorable dessert jars that are perfect for parties, holidays, or make-ahead treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture until smooth.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18 to 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cupcakes to cool completely before cutting or crumbling into pieces.
  7. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until fluffy to create frosting.
  8. Layer cupcake pieces, frosting, strawberries, sprinkles, and chocolate chips into jars.
  9. Repeat layers until jars are full, then pipe extra frosting on top.
  10. Chill jars for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use completely cooled cupcakes to prevent melted frosting.
  • Chill jars before serving for the best flavor and texture.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
