- 20 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the cheese tortellini for 2 minutes less than package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in heavy cream, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook until smooth and creamy.
- Add cooked tortellini to the sauce and gently toss until coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes if desired.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle fresh parsley over the top before serving.
Notes
- Freshly grated parmesan melts more smoothly into the sauce.
- Do not overcook the tortellini before baking.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving for a thicker sauce.
- Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
