Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
