Description

Watermelon Honey is a naturally sweet, sugar-free syrup made from just one ingredient: fresh watermelon! This easy homemade recipe is perfect for drizzling over pancakes, yogurt, desserts, or mixing into drinks for a fruity twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed

Instructions

  1. Place the watermelon cubes in a blender and blend until completely smooth.
  2. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large saucepan to remove pulp.
  3. Bring the watermelon juice to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Continue simmering until the liquid reduces to a thick, syrupy consistency (about 1 to 1.5 cups).
  5. Allow it to cool, then transfer to a clean glass jar or bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Notes

  • Use seedless watermelon for easier preparation.
  • The color will darken and the flavor intensify as it reduces.
  • Add a touch of lemon juice during cooking to balance sweetness.
  • Perfect as a natural sweetener in tea, lemonade, or baking.
