Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chips, for ganache)
  • 2 tablespoons red and pink heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes or until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. To make the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  11. Spoon or pipe ganache onto cooled cookies and top with heart sprinkles.
  12. Let ganache set for 20–30 minutes before serving.
