Tiramisu Cupcakes are a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring espresso-soaked vanilla cupcakes topped with a rich mascarpone frosting and a dusting of cocoa powder.

- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee (for soaking)
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with 12 cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter among cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- Combine brewed espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Poke holes in the cooled cupcakes with a skewer and spoon the mixture over each cupcake (about 1 teaspoon per cupcake).
- In a bowl, beat mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until thick and fluffy.
- Pipe or spread the mascarpone frosting onto cupcakes. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
- Chill the frosted cupcakes for 30 minutes for best texture and flavor.
- Use store-bought or homemade espresso depending on your preference.
