Description
A mouthwatering chicken dish coated in a glossy, sweet, and sticky glaze made with honey, soy sauce, and garlic—perfectly balanced and irresistibly flavorful.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
- Sliced green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, and ginger.
- Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken and bring to a simmer.
- Optional: For a thicker sauce, stir in a cornstarch slurry (mix cornstarch and water separately before adding) and simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak in the sticky sauce.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve over rice or noodles with steamed vegetables on the side.
Notes
- For added heat, stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes or sriracha.
- This recipe works well with shrimp or tofu as a protein alternative.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently to maintain the sauce’s texture.
