Description
Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed Donut Holes are the ultimate sweet treat, combining fluffy, warm donut holes with a creamy, tangy strawberry cheesecake filling. These bite-sized delights are perfect for a dessert or special brunch item.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Donut Holes:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- For the Cheesecake Filling:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup strawberry jam or puree
- For the Coating:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The dough will be thick.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a spoon or cookie scoop to carefully drop small spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil. Fry in batches, cooking for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- While the donut holes are cooling, make the cheesecake filling. In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and sour cream until smooth. Add the strawberry jam or puree and mix until combined.
- Once the donut holes have cooled slightly, use a small piping bag or a pastry tip to fill each donut hole with the cheesecake mixture.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the stuffed donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure the donut holes are only slightly cooled before stuffing to prevent the filling from melting.
- You can substitute fresh strawberries for the jam or puree if desired—just make sure to blend them smoothly first.
- If you don’t have a deep fryer, you can also fry the donut holes in a large pot with enough oil to submerge them halfway.
