- 1 box strawberry cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box: eggs, oil, water)
- 1/2 cup crushed freeze-dried strawberries (optional, for enhanced flavor)
- 15 Oreo cookies, crushed (for crumble)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 10 Oreo cookies, finely crushed (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- Prepare the strawberry cake batter according to package directions. Add freeze-dried strawberries if using for more flavor.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely.
- To make the icing, beat butter and cream cheese together until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Add heavy cream a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Fold in the finely crushed Oreos until fully incorporated into the icing.
- Frost the cooled cakes with the cookies ‘n cream icing. Sprinkle the Oreo crumble over the top and sides as desired.
- Chill for at least 30 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use homemade strawberry cake if preferred.
- Use freeze-dried strawberries for a stronger, natural strawberry flavor.
- Decorate with whole strawberries or mini Oreos for presentation.
