Description

A comforting and savory puff pastry pie filled with creamy sausage gravy — perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up as it browns.
  3. Once fully cooked, sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to coat.
  4. Slowly add the milk while stirring, and cook until the gravy thickens (about 5–7 minutes).
  5. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry slightly and place it in a greased pie dish or baking dish, allowing the edges to hang over.
  7. Pour the sausage gravy into the pastry-lined dish.
  8. Fold the edges of the pastry over the top, or add another sheet of pastry on top and seal the edges.
  9. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use spicy sausage for extra kick.
  • You can make the gravy ahead of time and refrigerate it.
  • Serve with a side of fresh fruit or salad for a complete meal.
