Description

Puff Pastry Samosa Chaat is a delightful fusion snack combining crispy puff pastry squares filled with spiced potatoes, topped with tangy chutneys, yogurt, and crunchy sev for an explosion of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying or baking
  • 1/2 cup yogurt, whisked
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney
  • 2 tablespoons mint-coriander chutney
  • Sev (crispy chickpea flour noodles) for garnish
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, then sauté onions and green chili until translucent.
  3. Add mashed potatoes, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let cool.
  4. Cut puff pastry sheet into 3×3 inch squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of each square. Fold and seal edges to form triangles or pockets.
  6. If frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry samosas until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  7. If baking: Place samosas on a lined baking tray, brush with oil, and bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Arrange samosas on a serving plate, drizzle with yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney.
  9. Sprinkle sev and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Notes

  • Use store-bought chutneys or homemade for best flavor.
  • Adjust spice levels by adding more or less chili.
  • Serve immediately for the best crunch.
