Description

This fluffy pot brown rice is nutty, wholesome, and incredibly easy to prepare. It’s the perfect base for stir-fries, curries, or simple grain bowls and turns out delicious every single time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and olive oil.
  3. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer undisturbed for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let the pot sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice gently with a fork and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use vegetable broth instead of water for extra flavor.
  • Add a bay leaf or garlic clove for aromatic depth.
  • For a toasted flavor, sauté rice in oil before adding water.
