Description

A warm baked sandwich wrapped in pizza dough and filled with provolone, deli meats, roasted red peppers, and fresh vegetables for a hearty deli-style meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound store-bought pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 8 slices deli turkey
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 12 slices salami
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, sliced and well drained
  • 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 small red onion, very thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together 1 tablespoon of the olive oil, the Italian seasoning, and the garlic powder.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll the pizza dough into a rectangle about 10 by 14 inches. Transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Layer 4 slices of provolone down the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Add the deli turkey, deli ham, salami, roasted red peppers, tomato slices, red onion, and shredded lettuce. Top with the remaining 4 slices of provolone.
  5. Fold one side of the dough over the filling, then fold the other side over and pinch the seams closed. Tuck in the ends and place the seam side down.
  6. Brush the top with the seasoned oil mixture, then drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the crust is deep golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes, then slice into 4 portions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat the roasted red peppers, tomato, and lettuce dry before assembling to keep the crust from getting soggy.
  • Let the pizza dough sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before stretching if it feels tight.
  • A serrated knife gives the cleanest slices after baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in a 350°F oven for the crispiest texture.
