Description

Pineapple Fried Chicken Wings are crispy, golden wings coated in a sweet and tangy pineapple glaze. Perfectly balanced with a hint of spice, these wings are a tropical twist on a classic favorite.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken wings in buttermilk for at least 1 hour (or overnight) in the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Dredge the wings in the flour mixture until well-coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry wings in batches for 8-10 minutes or until golden and fully cooked. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a saucepan, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
  5. Toss the fried wings in the pineapple glaze until coated evenly.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Double fry the wings for extra crispiness.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more honey or sugar if desired.
  • These wings are best served immediately while hot and crispy.
