Description
Soft golden breadsticks stuffed with seasoned shaved beef, onions, green bell pepper, provolone, and mozzarella, then baked until melty and brushed with butter for a cozy, crowd-pleasing dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
- 12 ounces ribeye steak or shaved beef, thinly sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 slices provolone cheese, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet or rectangular baking pan with parchment paper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and green bell pepper, then cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the thinly sliced beef, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until the beef is cooked through. Remove from the heat and let the filling cool for 5 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a 10 x 14-inch rectangle.
- Scatter the chopped provolone and shredded mozzarella over one half of the dough. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture evenly over the cheese.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and pinch the edges closed tightly. Transfer to the prepared pan and gently flatten slightly.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Brush the hot top with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into breadsticks and serve warm.
Notes
- Let the filling cool slightly before assembling so the dough stays easier to handle.
- Do not overfill or the seams may open during baking.
- Low-moisture mozzarella works best for a gooey texture without excess moisture.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven or toaster oven for the best texture.
