Description

Golden seared paneer steaks topped with a vibrant, tropical mango salsa bursting with sweet, spicy, and citrusy notes. A quick vegetarian dish perfect for summer meals or light dinners.


Ingredients

  • 250 grams paneer, cut into thick slices
  • 1 ripe mango, diced
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small green chili, finely chopped
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast iron skillet or nonstick pan over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. In a bowl, combine diced mango, red onion, bell pepper, green chili, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Chill until serving.
  3. Add olive oil to the skillet, swirling to coat the base.
  4. Season paneer slices with salt, black pepper, and cumin powder.
  5. Sear paneer slices for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Place hot paneer on serving plates and top with the chilled mango salsa.
  7. Serve immediately with lime wedges and fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Use firm, ripe mango for best texture in salsa.
  • Let the salsa sit for 10–15 minutes before serving to blend flavors.
  • Pat paneer dry before cooking for a better sear.
  • Can be made ahead by prepping salsa and marinating paneer in advance.
