Description
These Oven Baked Bloomin Apples are a beautiful and delicious dessert featuring tender baked apples filled with a buttery cinnamon-sugar mixture and topped with a caramel drizzle. Perfect for fall or any apple lover!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large baking apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp caramel sauce (for drizzling)
- Whipped cream or ice cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cut the top of each apple and scoop out the core using a corer or spoon. Carefully cut 8-10 slices around the apple without cutting through the bottom to create a “blooming” effect.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Place the apples in the prepared baking dish. Spoon the butter mixture evenly over each apple, making sure it seeps into the cuts.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes or until apples are tender.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Use firm apples so they hold their shape during baking.
- For a nutty twist, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts inside the apples before baking.
- These apples can also be prepared in advance and reheated before serving.
