Description

Olive Cheese Melts are warm, savory bites featuring melted cheese, briny olives, and a crispy exterior. They’re perfect for a quick appetizer or snack, offering a delicious combination of tangy olives and gooey cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup pitted olives (green or black), chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)
  • 4 small pita breads or 4 slices of baguette
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the mozzarella, Parmesan, cream cheese, chopped olives, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well to form a cheesy filling.
  3. Slice the pita bread or baguette into halves or quarters, depending on the size of the bread. Brush each piece lightly with olive oil.
  4. Spread the olive cheese mixture generously over each piece of bread.
  5. If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for added crunch.
  6. Place the bread on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Notes

  • Great for using up leftover bread or pita.
  • For an extra kick, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the cheese mixture.
  • You can make these ahead and bake them just before serving for a warm appetizer.
