Old School Pizza Burgers are a retro favorite combining juicy ground beef, zesty pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella on toasted buns. Perfectly nostalgic, these open-faced sandwiches bring pizza night and burger night together in one delicious bite.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 hamburger buns, split
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
- Place bun halves on the prepared baking sheet, cut-side up.
- Spoon beef mixture onto each bun half, spreading evenly.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and optional pepperoni or sausage if using.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
