Description

Juicy seared steak smothered in rich miso butter, paired with golden sesame potatoes and tender broccolini for a comforting, umami-packed dinner.


Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 pound baby potatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 bunch broccolini
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Place a cast iron skillet on medium-high heat.
  2. Toss halved baby potatoes in sesame oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and sesame seeds.
  3. Spread the potatoes on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Roast for 25–30 minutes until golden and crisp.
  4. While the potatoes roast, season the steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  5. In a hot cast iron skillet, sear steak 3–4 minutes per side until desired doneness. Remove and rest for 10 minutes.
  6. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in miso paste and soy sauce until smooth. Sauté broccolini in the steak pan for 3–4 minutes until tender.
  7. Slice rested steak, drizzle with miso butter, and serve with roasted sesame potatoes and sautéed broccolini.

Notes

  • Let steak rest after cooking to keep it juicy.
  • Use yellow miso as a milder substitute.
  • Try sweet potatoes instead of baby potatoes for a sweeter variation.
  • Add chili flakes to the miso butter for heat.
