Description
The Marry Me Steak Sandwich is a gourmet-style sandwich featuring a perfectly seared New York Strip steak, caramelized onions, zesty balsamic glaze, fresh arugula, and creamy lemon herb aioli, all served on a toasted ciabatta loaf. It’s rich, flavorful, and guaranteed to impress.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 New York Strip steak
- 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons balsamic glaze, divided
- Lemon herb aioli (Stonewall brand recommended)
- 1 handful fresh arugula
- 1 ciabatta loaf, sliced in half
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Season the steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak to your desired doneness (about 4–5 minutes per side for medium). Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.
- In the same skillet, add butter (if using) and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until caramelized, about 10–12 minutes. Drizzle 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze over the onions while cooking.
- Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain.
- Toast the ciabatta loaf halves until lightly golden.
- Spread lemon herb aioli on the bottom half of the ciabatta. Layer with arugula, caramelized onions, and sliced steak.
- Drizzle the remaining balsamic glaze over the steak, then place the top half of the ciabatta on the sandwich.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
Notes
- Allow the steak to rest after cooking to keep it juicy.
- You can substitute arugula with baby spinach if preferred.
- Use freshly baked ciabatta for the best texture and flavor.
- Optional butter adds richness to the caramelized onions but can be omitted for a lighter version.
