Description

The Marry Me Steak Sandwich is a gourmet-style sandwich featuring a perfectly seared New York Strip steak, caramelized onions, zesty balsamic glaze, fresh arugula, and creamy lemon herb aioli, all served on a toasted ciabatta loaf. It’s rich, flavorful, and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 New York Strip steak
  • 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic glaze, divided
  • Lemon herb aioli (Stonewall brand recommended)
  • 1 handful fresh arugula
  • 1 ciabatta loaf, sliced in half
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Season the steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak to your desired doneness (about 4–5 minutes per side for medium). Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.
  2. In the same skillet, add butter (if using) and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until caramelized, about 10–12 minutes. Drizzle 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze over the onions while cooking.
  3. Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain.
  4. Toast the ciabatta loaf halves until lightly golden.
  5. Spread lemon herb aioli on the bottom half of the ciabatta. Layer with arugula, caramelized onions, and sliced steak.
  6. Drizzle the remaining balsamic glaze over the steak, then place the top half of the ciabatta on the sandwich.
  7. Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Allow the steak to rest after cooking to keep it juicy.
  • You can substitute arugula with baby spinach if preferred.
  • Use freshly baked ciabatta for the best texture and flavor.
  • Optional butter adds richness to the caramelized onions but can be omitted for a lighter version.
