Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground bison
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 burger buns
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 small red onion, sliced
- 8 pickle slices
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons mustard
Instructions
- Heat your skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot.
- In a mixing bowl, gently combine ground bison, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and olive oil.
- Brush a bit of oil on the hot skillet or grill surface to prevent sticking.
- Divide the meat into four patties, slightly wider than your buns, and make a small indentation in the center of each.
- Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, flipping once. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast your buns on the skillet or in the oven for 1–2 minutes. Spread mayonnaise and mustard on each half.
- Layer lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on the bottom bun, add the patty, and top with the other half of the bun.
Notes
- Let the patties rest a few minutes before serving to lock in moisture.
- Use fresh toppings for the best texture and flavor.
- You can make the patties ahead and refrigerate for up to 1 day before cooking.
