Description

This juicy bison burger recipe is lean, flavorful, and stacked with classic toppings like cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Perfect for a quick meal or a summer cookout.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground bison
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard

Instructions

  1. Heat your skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. In a mixing bowl, gently combine ground bison, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and olive oil.
  3. Brush a bit of oil on the hot skillet or grill surface to prevent sticking.
  4. Divide the meat into four patties, slightly wider than your buns, and make a small indentation in the center of each.
  5. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, flipping once. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  6. Toast your buns on the skillet or in the oven for 1–2 minutes. Spread mayonnaise and mustard on each half.
  7. Layer lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on the bottom bun, add the patty, and top with the other half of the bun.

Notes

  • Let the patties rest a few minutes before serving to lock in moisture.
  • Use fresh toppings for the best texture and flavor.
  • You can make the patties ahead and refrigerate for up to 1 day before cooking.
