Description

Honey Soy Crispy Beef and Noodles is a flavorful, crunchy stir-fry dish featuring thinly sliced beef coated in a crispy flour batter, tossed in a sweet and savory honey soy sauce, and served over tender noodles. Garnished with spring onions, it’s a quick and satisfying meal perfect for weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cups flour, seasoned with salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Sauce:
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 34 tbsp honey, to taste
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce or oyster sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 500 g noodles, to serve
  • Sliced spring onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare beef: In a bowl, whisk egg with 2 tbsp soy sauce. Dip steak slices into egg mixture, then coat evenly with seasoned flour.
  2. Fry beef: Heat oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry coated beef in batches until golden and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make sauce: In a separate pan, sauté chopped onion until soft. Add crushed garlic and cook 1 minute. Stir in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, hoisin (or oyster) sauce, and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Cook noodles: Prepare noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  5. Combine: Toss crispy beef into sauce until coated. Serve over cooked noodles and garnish with sliced spring onions.

Notes

  • Adjust honey in the sauce to control sweetness.
  • For extra crispiness, double-dip beef in egg and flour before frying.
  • You can use rice noodles, egg noodles, or udon noodles based on preference.
  • Leftover beef can be stored in the fridge and reheated in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
