Description
Tender salmon fillets simmered in a glossy honey pineapple glaze with garlic and ginger, finished with sesame seeds and green onions for a sweet, savory, tropical dinner.
Ingredients
- Salmon fillets: 4 fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- Fresh pineapple chunks: 1 cup
- Honey: 3 tablespoons
- Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh ginger: 1 tablespoon, grated
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch: 1 teaspoon
- Water: 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Green onions: 2 tablespoons, sliced
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and have all ingredients ready.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
- Add olive oil to the warm skillet.
- Place the salmon fillets in the skillet and add the pineapple chunks around them.
- Pour the sauce over the salmon. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, spooning the glaze over the fish as it thickens, until the salmon flakes easily and looks opaque.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the salmon.
- Serve warm, spooning extra glaze and pineapple over each portion.
Notes
- Note: Pat the salmon dry before cooking so the glaze clings better.
- Note: Keep the heat at medium so the honey does not burn and the sauce thickens gently.
- Note: If you want a thicker glaze, let the sauce bubble for an extra 30 to 60 seconds while spooning it over the fish.
- Note: Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
