Description

Tender salmon fillets simmered in a glossy honey pineapple glaze with garlic and ginger, finished with sesame seeds and green onions for a sweet, savory, tropical dinner.

Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets: 4 fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • Fresh pineapple chunks: 1 cup
  • Honey: 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger: 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch: 1 teaspoon
  • Water: 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds: 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions: 2 tablespoons, sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and have all ingredients ready.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
  3. Add olive oil to the warm skillet.
  4. Place the salmon fillets in the skillet and add the pineapple chunks around them.
  5. Pour the sauce over the salmon. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, spooning the glaze over the fish as it thickens, until the salmon flakes easily and looks opaque.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the salmon.
  7. Serve warm, spooning extra glaze and pineapple over each portion.

Notes

  • Note: Pat the salmon dry before cooking so the glaze clings better.
  • Note: Keep the heat at medium so the honey does not burn and the sauce thickens gently.
  • Note: If you want a thicker glaze, let the sauce bubble for an extra 30 to 60 seconds while spooning it over the fish.
  • Note: Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
