Description

Honey Lime Chicken & Avocado Nacho Wonton Tacos are a crispy, zesty fusion of Asian-inspired wonton shells and Southwest flavors. Filled with tender honey lime-marinated chicken, creamy avocado, and topped with nacho cheese and fresh toppings, these bite-sized tacos are perfect for parties, appetizers, or fun dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, diced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 large avocado, diced
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • Optional: sour cream or lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a muffin tin or turn it upside down and drape wonton wrappers between the cups to form taco shapes.
  2. Brush wontons with olive oil and bake for 6–8 minutes or until golden and crisp. Let cool.
  3. In a bowl, mix diced chicken with honey, lime juice, zest, garlic, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 15–30 minutes.
  4. Cook marinated chicken in a skillet over medium heat for 6–8 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly caramelized. Set aside.
  5. Fill each baked wonton shell with a spoonful of chicken, followed by avocado, tomato, red onion, and a drizzle of nacho cheese sauce.
  6. Top with fresh cilantro and garnish with lime wedges or sour cream if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Wonton shells can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Try shredded lettuce, jalapeños, or pickled onions for extra texture and flavor.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken with black beans or grilled tofu.
