Description

Honey Butter Drop Biscuits are soft, flaky, and buttery biscuits with a touch of sweetness, finished with a luscious honey butter glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or alongside dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher or sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, very cold, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup whole milk or buttermilk, very cold
  • Honey Butter: 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Pinch of Kosher or sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cold milk or buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
  7. While biscuits bake, melt butter for honey butter in a small saucepan or microwave, then stir in honey and a pinch of salt.
  8. Remove biscuits from oven and brush immediately with honey butter.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use very cold butter and milk to ensure flaky biscuits.
  • For extra height, handle the dough minimally and avoid overmixing.
  • Honey butter can be made in larger quantities and stored for several days in the fridge.
  • Biscuits are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes.
