Description

Fluffy, cheesy, and garlicky, these higher protein garlic swirls are the perfect savory treat. Made with Greek yogurt and whole wheat flour, they’re a healthier twist on a classic favorite with all the comforting flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in Greek yogurt until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough a few times until smooth. Roll into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. In a small pan, sauté minced garlic in olive oil and half of the melted butter for 1 minute. Spread this mixture over the rolled dough.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella, parmesan, and parsley evenly over the dough. Roll up tightly and slice into 1-inch rounds.
  6. Place rolls on the baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes until golden.
  7. Brush hot rolls with remaining melted butter and a pinch of parmesan if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For neater slicing, chill the rolled dough log for 10 minutes before cutting.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in a toaster oven or microwave.
  • Try adding red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for a spicy twist.
