Description

Crispy on the outside, melty and salty on the inside — this Halloumi Schnitzel is the ultimate comfort dish made with just a handful of ingredients in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 225250g halloumi cheese, sliced into 1 cm slabs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • Olive oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Set your frying pan over medium heat with olive oil and let it heat up.
  2. Place flour in one bowl, eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.
  3. Pat dry the halloumi slices. Dredge each slice in flour, then dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumbs. Press gently to adhere.
  4. Fry 2–3 slices at a time for 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and optional garnish like parsley or chili flakes.

Notes

  • Rest the breaded halloumi for 10 minutes before frying for better crunch.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  • Reheat leftovers in a hot pan or air fryer for best texture.
  • Add herbs or spices to the breadcrumbs for variation.
