Description
Soft, fluffy, and golden-fried donuts coated in a classic sweet vanilla glaze. These homemade glazed donuts are bakery-quality and perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat.

- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tablespoons warm water (110°F / 45°C)
- 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- For the glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, salt, butter, egg, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters (one large, one small).
- Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts a few at a time until golden brown on both sides, about 1 minute per side. Drain on paper towels.
- To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- While donuts are still warm, dip them into the glaze and place on a wire rack to set.
Notes
- Make sure oil stays around 350°F to prevent burning or greasy donuts.
- Let the glaze set for at least 10 minutes before serving.
- These are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days.
