- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg, then gently stir into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the fresh blueberries carefully.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until lightly golden on top and cooked through.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Keep the butter very cold for the best fluffy texture.
- Do not overmix the dough to avoid dense scones.
- Frozen blueberries can be used straight from the freezer.
