Description

Dolly’s Chicken and Stuffing Casserole is a comforting, Southern-style dish made with tender shredded chicken, creamy soup, and a buttery stuffing topping. It’s a cozy, no-fuss bake perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie or poached)
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of celery soup (or use another cream of chicken)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 (6 oz) box stuffing mix (e.g., Stove Top)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, sour cream, milk, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Spread the chicken mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the dry stuffing mix, melted butter, and chicken broth. Stir until the stuffing is moistened.
  5. Spoon the stuffing evenly over the chicken layer.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and the stuffing is golden brown.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use leftover turkey instead of chicken.
  • Add a layer of sautéed onions, celery, or green beans for extra texture and flavor.
  • This casserole can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge before baking.
