- 1 (16 oz) package frozen pierogies (potato & cheese preferred)
- 12 oz smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the frozen pierogies in the bottom of a greased crockpot.
- Top with half of the sausage slices and chopped onions.
- Pour half of the sauce over the layers and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
- Repeat layers with remaining pierogies, sausage, sauce, and cheese.
- Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, until hot and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or chives before serving if desired.
Notes
- Use different types of pierogies such as spinach or sauerkraut for variation.
- Substitute cream of mushroom with a homemade roux-based sauce for a cleaner option.
- Add a handful of spinach or steamed broccoli for extra veggies.
