Description

A fiery, crispy homemade Zinger burger featuring perfectly spiced fried chicken, creamy mayo, and fresh lettuce tucked into toasted buns. Your favorite fast food, now even better at home.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breast Fillets: 2 large, sliced in half horizontally
  • Buttermilk: 1 cup
  • Hot Sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1.5 cups
  • Cornstarch: ½ cup
  • Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Onion Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne Pepper: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper: ½ teaspoon
  • Eggs: 2, beaten
  • Burger Buns: 4, lightly toasted
  • Mayonnaise: ½ cup
  • Lettuce Leaves: 1 cup, shredded
  • Oil for Frying: Enough for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F. Line a tray with paper towels and set a cooling rack nearby.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, mix buttermilk with hot sauce. Add chicken fillets and marinate for at least 30 minutes. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Choose a deep, heavy-bottomed pan. Pour in enough oil to submerge the chicken and heat to temperature.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Remove chicken from marinade. Dredge in seasoned flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and dredge again in the flour. Press firmly so coating sticks.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Fry chicken 5–7 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temp hits 165°F. Drain on a rack for max crispiness.
  6. Finishing Touches: Toast burger buns lightly. Spread mayo on both sides. Layer lettuce and place hot, crispy chicken on top.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Sandwich the layers together. Serve immediately with fries or slaw.

Notes

  • Marinate overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Use a thermometer to keep oil at 350°F for perfect crisping.
  • Rest chicken after frying to avoid sogginess.
