Description

A simple and delicious way to turn leftover rice into a golden, crispy treat. This Crispy Rice Hack delivers that perfect crunch with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (cold, preferably day-old)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil or butter.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cold rice with soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt until combined.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the skillet and spread the rice evenly across the bottom.
  4. Press the rice down with a spatula to create a flat layer.
  5. Cook undisturbed for 7 to 10 minutes until the bottom is golden and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the rice onto a plate or board.
  7. Top with green onions or your choice of garnish and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for best texture and crispiness.
  • Don’t rush the cooking—let the crust form slowly.
  • Add toppings like spicy tuna or avocado for variety.
