Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
- 1 tsp dried parsley (for garnish)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and sour cream. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Drop 1/4-cup mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Meanwhile, mix the melted butter with 1/2 tsp garlic powder and dried parsley.
- Brush the warm biscuits with the garlic butter mixture as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and texture.
- Don’t overmix the dough to keep the biscuits tender.
- Double the butter topping for extra flavor.
