Description

Coffee Buttercream Frosting is a rich, smooth, and flavorful frosting made with butter, powdered sugar, and a bold kick of coffee—perfect for topping cakes, cupcakes, or brownies with a sophisticated twist.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee or espresso powder
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve instant coffee or espresso powder in hot water. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Pour in the dissolved coffee, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on high speed until frosting is smooth and creamy.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

  • Use strong brewed coffee instead of instant powder for a milder coffee flavor.
