Description

Cinnamon Sugar Elephant Ears are crispy, golden fried dough treats coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar mixture. They’re a classic fair and carnival favorite that’s easy to make at home—perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth with a crunchy, sugary delight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough or puff pastry
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Cut dough into 6–8 pieces and gently stretch each piece into an oval or ear shape.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry each dough piece for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden and puffed. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Brush warm elephant ears with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Serve immediately for best crispness and flavor.

Notes

  • Use pizza dough for a fluffier texture, or puff pastry for a flakier bite.
  • Keep fried dough warm in a low oven while frying remaining pieces.
  • Try adding a drizzle of honey or chocolate sauce for extra indulgence.
