Chorizo fries combine crispy golden fries topped with spicy, savory chorizo sausage and melted cheese, making for a flavorful and indulgent snack or appetizer perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups frozen French fries
- 8 oz chorizo sausage, casing removed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the frozen fries according to package instructions until crispy and golden brown.
- While fries are cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chorizo and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until fully cooked and browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Once fries are done, transfer them to a serving plate. Top evenly with cooked chorizo and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Place under a broiler or in a hot oven (about 400°F/200°C) for 3–5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
Notes
- Use fresh-cut fries for a homemade touch and extra crispiness.
- Adjust the amount of chorizo depending on how spicy and meaty you want the dish.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some smoked paprika or chili flakes on top before serving.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the fries crispy and the cheese melty.
