Description
Creamy peanut butter centers wrapped in a smooth, snappy chocolate shell. No bake, quick to make, and irresistibly rich.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons vegetable shortening
- Optional: flaky sea salt or sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Line and chill space: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and clear room in the refrigerator.
- Mix filling: In a bowl, beat peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and malleable.
- Shape: Scoop and roll into 1-inch balls, placing them on the prepared sheet.
- Chill: Refrigerate 30 minutes until firm.
- Melt chocolate: Microwave chocolate chips with shortening in 30-second bursts, stirring until silky.
- Dip: Using a fork, dip each chilled ball, letting excess drip off, then return to the sheet.
- Finish: Sprinkle with flaky sea salt or sprinkles before the chocolate sets, if desired.
- Set and serve: Let chocolate harden at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
Notes
- Chill the filling well so the balls keep their shape when dipping.
- Natural peanut butter works but may need extra chilling to firm up.
- For a thinner coating, add an extra 1 teaspoon shortening.
- Store layers between parchment to prevent sticking.
