Description

These Chocolate Pancakes are rich, fluffy, and bursting with chocolate flavor. Perfect for a decadent breakfast or brunch, they’re sure to satisfy any sweet craving!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined (do not overmix). Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve warm with syrup, whipped cream, or extra chocolate chips.

Notes

  • Use mini chocolate chips for more even distribution.
  • The batter will be thick; add a tablespoon of milk if too dense.
  • These pancakes freeze well—reheat in a toaster or oven for best texture.
