Description

A rich and cozy breakfast bake made with flaky croissants soaked in vanilla custard and layered with melted chocolate, baked until golden and finished with a light dusting of powdered sugar.


Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, torn into chunks
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly butter a medium rectangular baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Arrange the torn croissants evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the croissants.
  5. Slowly pour the custard mixture over the croissants, gently pressing them down so they absorb the liquid.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is just set.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
