Description

A fusion of crispy wonton shells filled with seasoned chicken, topped with fresh veggies and a tangy sauce. These chicken wonton tacos are perfect for a fun and flavorful appetizer or light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 small wonton wrappers
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Lime wedges, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin and press wonton wrappers into the cups to form taco shells. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from the tin and set aside to cool.
  2. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add ground chicken, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and sriracha sauce to make the creamy sauce. Adjust the amount of sriracha based on desired heat level.
  4. To assemble, place a spoonful of the cooked chicken mixture into each crispy wonton shell.
  5. Top with shredded cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and green onions.
  6. Drizzle with the creamy sriracha sauce and garnish with lime wedges. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Wonton wrappers can be found in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores, usually near the tofu or Asian ingredients.
  • For a healthier version, you can use lettuce leaves instead of wonton wrappers for the shells.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like avocado or jalapeños for extra flavor.
