This creamy copycat Chick-fil-A mac and cheese recipe features tender elbow macaroni baked in a rich, cheesy sauce made with cheddar, parmesan, and romano, then topped with extra melted cheddar for a golden finish.

- 16 ounces elbow macaroni
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup cream
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 3/4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded romano cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Extra cheddar cheese, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in cream and milk, stirring constantly until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar, parmesan, and romano cheeses until melted and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Add cooked macaroni to the sauce and stir until fully coated.
- Transfer mac and cheese to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle extra cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Serve hot as a comforting side dish or main course.
Notes
- For extra creaminess, add more cream or a touch of Velveeta cheese.
- Broil for the last 2 minutes for an extra golden topping.
- Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated with a splash of milk.
