Description

A comforting baked pasta dish with tender rigatoni coated in rich tomato sauce, layered with creamy ricotta and topped with melted mozzarella and parmesan for a golden, bubbly finish.


Ingredients

  • 400 grams rigatoni pasta
  • 500 milliliters tomato sauce
  • 250 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 50 grams grated parmesan cheese
  • 200 grams ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • a handful fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C and bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook the rigatoni until slightly underdone, then drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly before adding tomato sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a large bowl, mix pasta with sauce and ricotta, then transfer to a baking dish and top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
  6. Sprinkle fresh basil on top and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy.
