Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk, cold
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
- Add the cold cubed butter to the bowl and cut it into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently stir just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- Scoop large portions of dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each biscuit.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Notes
- Keep the butter and buttermilk very cold for the fluffiest texture.
- Handle the dough as little as possible to avoid tough biscuits.
- Biscuits can be reheated in the oven for best results.
