- 1 loaf French bread or brioche, cubed (14–16 oz)
- 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Maple syrup, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Layer half the bread cubes in the dish, scatter cream cheese cubes, then top with remaining bread.
- Pour egg mixture evenly over the dish and press gently to soak.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 25–30 minutes until golden.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup if desired, then serve warm.
