Description

Antojitos are a delicious Tex-Mex style appetizer made with flour tortillas rolled up with a creamy, cheesy, and mildly spiced filling, then baked until golden. Served with a basil pesto sour cream dipping sauce, they’re perfect for parties or as a fun snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz canned diced green chilies
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, finely diced
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Basil Pesto Sour Cream Dipping Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp basil pesto

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, green chilies, cheddar cheese, red onion, bell pepper, sour cream, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne until smooth and well combined.
  3. Spread the filling evenly across each tortilla, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges.
  4. Roll each tortilla tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch rounds.
  5. Place slices cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until tortillas are lightly golden and filling is hot and melty.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing sour cream and basil pesto in a small bowl.
  8. Serve warm antojitos with basil pesto sour cream dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use flavored tortillas (like spinach or tomato) for extra color and taste.
  • You can make the rolls ahead, refrigerate, and bake just before serving.
  • Adjust cayenne to your spice preference.
  • Try Monterey Jack or pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar for variety.
