Description

This quick and flavorful 5-minute pizza sauce is made with pantry staples like tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, and herbs. It’s the perfect base for homemade pizza, calzones, or even as a dipping sauce for breadsticks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce / 425 g) can tomato sauce or passata
  • 1 (6-ounce / 170 g) can tomato paste
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar or honey
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the tomato sauce and tomato paste until smooth.
  2. Add the minced garlic, oregano, basil, sugar (or honey), salt, and black pepper.
  3. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Use immediately on pizza, calzones, or as a dipping sauce, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of olive oil.
  • This sauce freezes well—store in small portions for easy use.
  • If using fresh herbs, double the quantity for best flavor.
